I've always heard great things about chi so i decided to spend the extra money on it. Honestly my $20 Conair flat iron works just as well and the curling iron does not curl my hair. If you have hair that doesn't take to curling irons i recommend this: Conair Ceramic Instant Heat Spiral Styler - .75" ... and it is way cheaper!


the only bad thing is this new iron is not as fat around as the old one it replaces. my wife loves this brand "Chi" curling iron but she prefers the a 2 inch iron.


This appliance does the job well, curling or flat ironing, but because of the dual usage design it has seams that catch your hair...just a few strands... that get caught and pulled out. Also when using the flat iron you have to get used to holding it in a certain position otherwise you pinch the palm of your hand when closing the iron....you'll see. One other thing is that it only displays temperature in C. not F...I prefer F. I had another Chi digital that gave you the option of choosing C or F, this one does not but it works well enough to overlook that issue.


I bought this for my daughter for Christmas and she absolutely loves it. It gets hot very quickly and it curls and/or flattens beautifully leaving hair shiny and smooth. I have very curly and at times frizzy hair and usually use my own flattener or curling iron but wanted to try hers. The difference I saw in my hair led me to sneak into her room every morning and steal it to do my hair before work. After doing this off and on for two months, I am buying my own finally. I've used many brands of flatteners and curling irons but I'm not sure what it is about this one, it's just something you have to try to see the difference. P.S. my daughter and I both have medium to long hair if that makes a difference, but we each have layers/bangs in the front and have no issues at all using it


this item is ok, but the dual flat/curling iron technology really does not work well...when I use it as a flat iron, it doesn't really iron my hair straight & smooth; when I use it as a curling iron, the barrel is too large for short-medium length hair, and it doesn't really grab the hair well (hair slips out of the barrel too easily)...and it's heavy compared to other irons which makes it hard to hold/control; the tip of the iron gets too hot to hold it steady while you're waiting for the curl to set.

I'm going back to my individual flat iron and smaller-barrel curling iron!
