It's not loud as regular dryers and doesn't blow your hair away so it's easier to style but dries your hair quickly. Had to buy a second one because my husband was going out of town and I didn't want to resort back to using the old drug store "celebrity" stylist brands.


This was my first nice hairdryer and I love it. It makes drying my long think hair go so much faster and doesn't damage it nearly as much as cheap hairdryers.
I've already had it for over 5 years, and even though it's a reasonable size I almost always make room in my suitcase to travel with it.
It will make you hate standard hair dryers.
One tip-keep the box. Chi has a lifetime warranty on their hairdryers when you hold on to the box.


I am a professional stylist and purchased this dryer about a year ago. Within the first six months, it was making a terrible metallic sound and stopped heating properly. I sent it into to be fixed, and after a few months it is now only blowing cold air. This is ridiculous for such a high priced item- several stylists within the salon have cheaper brands that have lasted them for years. On top of that, two other CHI dryers in the salon have broken, including one that sparked and caught flame. I have tried emailing the company several times and have gotten no response, as have the other stylists. I was very unimpressed at their product and their terrible customer service. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.


I purchased this CHI Farouk Hair Dryer for my mother about a month ago. She absolutely loves this product. I saw it in action the first day and she was able to dry her hair in about 10-15 seconds. She normall spends a good 3-5 minutes just doing some minimal styling. Her hair was also noticeably shinier.

I checked up with her again recently and she is still beaming about the hair dryer. It's pricey - but I guess you get what you pay for! She loves it.


I bought this item after having tried it at my friends house - I have very fine hair and my old haridryer used to burn my hair. This dryer has low EMF and does not dry out or burn your hair no matter how long you keep it on a certain spot. If there's anything I spend money on, its something that I use everyday - and this was money well spent!


I thought this hair dryer was great until it stopped heating after a few months. There are other salon quality hair dryers out there in the same price range that dry as well as Chi but are much more reliable. I would not recommend purchasing any Chi product after this experience.


The hairdryer is OK, however, it is not worth over $100. I was excited because I thought that it was the same thing that my hairstylist uses, I was disappointed when I used the dryer. It does not get as hot, nor does it dry as fast as I had previously used. Save your money!


I don't know what these other people are talking about. I have had this dryer for almost two years, it is the best. I have gone through many, many other units and they pale next to the Farouk. It will dry your hair perfectly without frying it. Total top shelf!!!!


I bought this for my daughter, who has used this model Chi dryer at her stylist's. She really loves it. Using the diffuser, the Chi dries her naturally curly hair quickly and leaves the curls softer than using other hairdryers with diffusers. If you have curly hair, I know she would recommend that you purchase this product.


It remains to be seen that this high priced "professional quality" hairdryer stands up to the test of time, but, so far, it has performed well. It is well balanced and quiet. It is also fairly lightweight. The cord is quite long which comes in handy. Although it has a relatively low watt count, my hair gets dry in a decent amount of time. I'm glad I bought it.

I got this as a gift for my wife for Christmas 2008. They were sold out in real world stores when I went out looking for them. Luckily, I was able to not only find it on Amazon, but for less then I would have paid otherwise -- and it came on time. This replaced a $15 pharmacy bought hair dryer and is a vast improvement. My wife loves the thing. Being as manly as I am, I don't use a hair dryer; however, I can attest to its quietness (my wife gets up for work before me and it does not wake me up like her previous ones used to). I would recommend it to a friend. Don't be disheartened by the four stars I gave it -- I typically don't hand out five stars.


i took a chance and bought a CHI dryer in july 2008 and it's broken just a little over 8 months later. for a $120+ hair dryer to break within a year, that's poor quality workmanship. it was never dropped, exposed to water, or mistreated in any way. for what it's worth, i wouldn't recommend buying any CHI product to anyone- my CHI flat iron also broke within a year from the date of purchase. what's funny-- if you read the warning labels on the CHI products, the english is very broken. for example, the warning on my dryer read "push reset button if not turn on." it begs the question of where are these made and with what quality of products?


I bought this for the wife who didn't want me to spend the money. Once she used it she was glad I did and she really likes it. It is incredibly quiet on the low setting. You can have a normal conversation it is so quiet. Easy to use and dries your hair reasonably quick. I also noticed the statement about the warranty being voided if not purchased from a hair salon. I hope I don't have to find out but I would think that is not legal to do. If they sell it to Amazon to resell then they should be required to honor the standard warranty. Whatever it is a great dryer that is quieter and should help prevent hearing loss. Definitely much cheaper than a high tech hearing aid. I am planning on buying two more for birthday presents for the daughters.


Love the quality, but find that it's unbalanced and a little heavy. Not portable but not too big either. I recommend this though it dries my long hair quick and leaves it healthier than a regular blow dryer! Use the cool setting to set your hairstyle after it dries and blow in the direction of the hair to close the cuticle. Leaves my hair smooth.


There are only two settings: high and low. Because I have frizzy hair - I've been taught by my beautician to use less air and more heat. In-other-words: medium air, and high heat. You don't have that option with this hair dryer - because you don't need it. High is high air and high heat; that doesn't frizz your hair. So it really does cut drying time in half. My hair has never looked better and taken less time to do.

I had also heard, right after I bought this, that there are fakes being sold on Amazon. So when I got it - I did some research and I can tell you that mine was an authentic Chi.



I am loving this hair dryer for two reasons. The first is because my hair is thick and usually takes a long time to dry. This dryer is powerful enough to get the job done quickly. The second reason is because I used to blow a fuse with my old hair dryer if I had it on for more than a few minutes. The Farouk seems more compatible with my home's electrical system, or more likely, it's a better made product.




I am African American with unrelaxed, mixed texture hair (kinky/curly). This dryer worked really well on the low setting. I tried to use the high setting (setting II), but couldn't stand the heat. I've used it only twice but it makes a huge difference when compared to my old $20 dryer. It was quick and left my hair feeling great. It's also lightweight, making the task of drying thick hair a lot easier.


This is a great hairdryer, the only negative is that it is a bit heavy.


The Rocket cut my drying time and I like that it's very light so my arm doesn't get tired when I dry my hair. However, when I read some reviews before purchasing it sounded like this hair dryer would give you "super model hair" just by using it. Remember: It's just a hair dryer. A good quality hair dryer is just one factor in the overall health and appearance of your hair.

I think it's a good value for the money, but haven't owned it long enough to know how reliable it is.


After about a week of debating and looking at blow dryer after blow dryer I decided to spend the extra money on a good one. I am so glad I took the plunge! This blow dryer is exceptional. Well worth the price. I have purchased other Farouk CHI products in the past and have never been disappointed. This is no exception.
One of my favorite features is the 'cool' setting button. Once you press it, the air stays cool. You do not have to keep pressing it like other blow dryers. Once your done with the cool setting, press it again for hot air.
This product is a little heavier than other dryers I have had in the past but I got the hang of it after a couple of uses. It dries my hair in about half the time and eliminates the frizz.
If you are ok with splurging a bit, I would definitely recommend this dryer.

I bought this dryer after years of using an old Avanti. I liked the avanti pretty well and was sceptical of changing brands. When I received this dryer I was at first dissapointed at the lack of a very strong air flow, such as I was used to, and the lack of mutilple heat ranges. This has just a high and low switch. But OK, I could have bought the Rocket model for $40 more and got the extra controls and more power. I have to say that after a few weeks using this CHI Pro model, I just love it. I like the gentle air flow, and the Hi and Lo settings are all I need, and they work just fine. It does dry your hair faster than just hot air and it leaves your hair soft. It seems to dry the hair without striping out all the moisture. I attribute that to the Ion Flow Feature.

No more frizzy hair! My old dryer would leave my hair in a stand up mode, try to comb it and it would jump up to comb, and it was so noisy that when I turned it on my dalmatian would leave the room. This CHI Pro is very quiet and relaxing to use, no more static hair, and the dog now stays on his sofa. In my opinion this is a great, well made product, and I like it very much.




This hair product is nothing like I have used before and I am a hair crazy person. It is sioft on the hair yet it dries it most quickly. I purchased this item because it is eady on the hair and I have mid-back length hair as I grow it long and then cut it and donate it to locks of love. Now, the hair will be in better shape for those cancer patients in need of wigs. Try it and think of donating you hair too


I purchased this dryer a month ago and was struggling with the idea of spending this much money on a hair dryer. With the low wattage I was also worried it would take longer to dry my hair. My hair dries faster with this dryer than my previous 1875 watt dryer and is worth the money. I'm even considering buying a 2nd one for my teenage daughters. My only complaint is minor. Due to the structure/location of the high/off/low switch, my hand sometimes triggers the switch when I'm drying my hair. However, overall this dryer is comfortable in my hand.


I have heavy hair, so I've always purchased pro hairdryers, and am really happy with this one. It's actually a bit lighter than the last unit I owned, and it drys well. I have no trouble getting the defuser on the end and feel that the design, while not as deep as my old defuser, is still good.

My only comment is for Amazon. Please consider packaging the dryer more carefully when shipping it, and please mark the outside packaging as "Fragile.". Mine arrived packaged within a larger box with no protective cushioning between the boxes. I've read quite a few customer reviews that complain about the unit's short life and voided warranty. All of my past dryers have failed when the internal housing came loose, and receiving a unit that's been banged around during shipping with no protection gives me pause for thought: How long will the unit now last?

Buyers: this really is a great unit. I can't recall if the shopping cart section allows users to make comments, but if it does, be sure to ask Amazon to pad the internal box thoroughly - top, bottom and sides, and mark the package "Fragile." That will do the trick.


This blow dryer is the best I've ever had or tried. It dries my hair quickly and with a smooth finish. Highly recommended


I really like this hairdryer since it is so lightweight and it dries quickly without feeling too hot. I don't notice my hair to be any shinier than my last hairdryer made my hair, like some reviews have claimed. I did get a really good price on amazon, so I feel good about my purchase.

This hairdryer is worth every penny! Is has such strong power, especially with the "cool" button, and dries hair super fast. I received lots of compliments on how shiny/silky my hair looks. It a bit heavy, but not terrible. It also comes with two attachments, which I love having, but find them very hard to "attach" - you need to push them into place and I have pinched my fingers several times. I am hoping they loosen up. I love the extra-long cord and it's not very loud. I am already debating the Chi straightener and have recommended this hairdryer to everyone I know! It is fantastic and I will never go back!


I was uncertain whether or not this blow dryer would be powerful enough for me but it has turned out to work great. I have shoulder length, very fine but very thick hair. It has always taken me a long time to dry my hair so I was afraid 1300 watts would not be enough. However, the Chi has plenty of power and takes me less time than with my other dryer of higher wattage. The Chi also helps to cut down on frizziness. It runs much quieter than any other brand I have tried over the year and, I have tried many. My hairstylist uses this brand and I thought she was drying my hair on the low setting because of the low noise it made but was surprised that it was the higher setting.
The prices at Amazon are extremely reasonable compared to purchasing locally, at least for me. I am sold on Chi and feel it is worth the price as my hair seems more healthy even though I still blow it dry.


This is an excellent blow dryer. I had never spent so much on one previously, but my hairdresser recommended Chi. It is like anything, if you have the right tools, the outcome will be better and more professional. My hair is less frizzy and dry, which is great, and I get salon results every day.
