It's not loud as regular dryers and doesn't blow your hair away so it's easier to style but dries your hair quickly. Had to buy a second one because my husband was going out of town and I didn't want to resort back to using the old drug store "celebrity" stylist brands.
This was my first nice hairdryer and I love it. It makes drying my long think hair go so much faster and doesn't damage it nearly as much as cheap hairdryers.
I've already had it for over 5 years, and even though it's a reasonable size I almost always make room in my suitcase to travel with it.
It will make you hate standard hair dryers.
One tip-keep the box. Chi has a lifetime warranty on their hairdryers when you hold on to the box.
I am a professional stylist and purchased this dryer about a year ago. Within the first six months, it was making a terrible metallic sound and stopped heating properly. I sent it into to be fixed, and after a few months it is now only blowing cold air. This is ridiculous for such a high priced item- several stylists within the salon have cheaper brands that have lasted them for years. On top of that, two other CHI dryers in the salon have broken, including one that sparked and caught flame. I have tried emailing the company several times and have gotten no response, as have the other stylists. I was very unimpressed at their product and their terrible customer service. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.
I purchased this CHI Farouk Hair Dryer for my mother about a month ago. She absolutely loves this product. I saw it in action the first day and she was able to dry her hair in about 10-15 seconds. She normall spends a good 3-5 minutes just doing some minimal styling. Her hair was also noticeably shinier.
I checked up with her again recently and she is still beaming about the hair dryer. It's pricey - but I guess you get what you pay for! She loves it.
I bought this item after having tried it at my friends house - I have very fine hair and my old haridryer used to burn my hair. This dryer has low EMF and does not dry out or burn your hair no matter how long you keep it on a certain spot. If there's anything I spend money on, its something that I use everyday - and this was money well spent!
I thought this hair dryer was great until it stopped heating after a few months. There are other salon quality hair dryers out there in the same price range that dry as well as Chi but are much more reliable. I would not recommend purchasing any Chi product after this experience.
The hairdryer is OK, however, it is not worth over $100. I was excited because I thought that it was the same thing that my hairstylist uses, I was disappointed when I used the dryer. It does not get as hot, nor does it dry as fast as I had previously used. Save your money!
I don't know what these other people are talking about. I have had this dryer for almost two years, it is the best. I have gone through many, many other units and they pale next to the Farouk. It will dry your hair perfectly without frying it. Total top shelf!!!!
I bought this for my daughter, who has used this model Chi dryer at her stylist's. She really loves it. Using the diffuser, the Chi dries her naturally curly hair quickly and leaves the curls softer than using other hairdryers with diffusers. If you have curly hair, I know she would recommend that you purchase this product.
It remains to be seen that this high priced "professional quality" hairdryer stands up to the test of time, but, so far, it has performed well. It is well balanced and quiet. It is also fairly lightweight. The cord is quite long which comes in handy. Although it has a relatively low watt count, my hair gets dry in a decent amount of time. I'm glad I bought it.
